Testudocetus laplacei (common Lapras)

Testudocetus laplacei (Laplace's turtle-whale) is a species of mid-size cetaceans, formerly thought to be a relative of marine turtles due to its hardened back.
Its common name, "Lapras", is a romanization of its Japanese name "Rapurasu", the Japanese way of writing Laplace, likely based after the polymath Pierre-Simon Laplace (1749-1827).

Inquisitive and intelligent animals, lapras will often approach boats and ask for treats.
